List of Companies and Available Tools to Assist Providers and Manufacturers in Screening Orders

This list serves as a resource for providers of synthetic nucleic acids (Providers) and manufacturers of benchtop nucleic acid synthesis equipment (Manufacturers) that need to screen purchase orders to identify sequences of concern to comply with §4(b) of the Executive Order on the Safe, Secure, and Trustworthy Development and Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI EO) and the resulting US Framework for Nucleic Acid Synthesis Screening (Framework). Please refer to For Providers & Benchtop Manufacturers or the FAQs for more information relevant to Providers and Manufacturers.

This list includes companies that provide screening services as well as open-source tools that can be repurposed for in-house screening solutions. To the best of our knowledge, this list comprises all commercially and freely available gene synthesis screening tools on the market. This list does not include in-house screening tools that are unavailable on the open market.

NCBI: BLAST

  • Bioinformatics tool that can be adapted for many purposes, one of them may be screening. Providers and Manufacturers could use this tool to develop in-house screening software.

From NCBI’s Website: The Basic Local Alignment Search Tool (BLAST) “finds regions of similarity between biological sequences. The program compares nucleotide or protein sequences to sequence databases and calculates the statistical significance.”

RTX BBN Technologies: FAST-NA Scanner
